Since the 18th century, close to a hundred glassworks have been founded in southern Sweden, in an area called Glasriket—the Kingdom of Crystal.
The area is well known for its deep forests and many lakes, hence making it a perfect location for glassworks. The forests gave the much needed firewood and the lakes gave sand to the glass production. However, glassworkers were suffering from serious diseases related to the handling of the glass raw materials and therefore Swedish regulations became much harder during the 1970’s.
Instead of making big investments in each glasswork it was decided to centralize the raw material handling at one place—Glasma in Emmaboda—in the heart of the Kingdom of Crystal.
The Glasma factory was opened in 1979 and has been continuously updated and modernized since then. Today it is one of the most modern, safe and efficient factories producing high quality pelletized glass raw materials.
Our production is automated, encapsulated, monitored, measured and documented thoroughly and continuously.
Our export is more than 80% and our customers are to be found all over the world. From small glass studios to large glassworks and several glass schools.
All of our employees have an extensive knowledge from glass production and several of them have been working as glass blowers. This gives us an outstanding possibility to support our customers.
The safety of our employees and visitors always comes first. We work hard to make sure that all kinds of pollution are stopped as early as possible in the process.
Our solid and systematic work to safeguard our process is thoroughly controlled by Swedish authorities and our own control systems.
Our frequent stop-and-clean sessions minimize the risk of accidents.
Our process is thoroughly controlled and measured. Glasma was ISO 9001 certified already in 1995 and ISO 14001 in 1997.
