Since the 18th century, close to a hundred glassworks have been founded in southern Sweden, in an area called Glasriket—the Kingdom of Crystal.
The area is well known for its deep forests and many lakes, hence making it a perfect location for glassworks. The forests gave the much needed firewood and the lakes gave sand to the glass production. However, glassworkers were suffering from serious diseases related to the handling of the glass raw materials and therefore Swedish regulations became much harder during the 1970s.
Instead of making big investments in each glasswork it was decided to centralize the raw material handling at one place—Glasma in Emmaboda—in the heart of the Kingdom of Crystal.
Since 1979
The Glasma factory was opened in 1979 and has been continuously updated and modernized since then. Today it is one of the most modern, safe and efficient factories producing high quality pelletized glass raw materials.
Our production is automated, encapsulated, monitored, measured and documented thoroughly and continuously.
